It's a big (ROBOT) world out there...

Hello world!

Leaves are green, skies are blue…

...and did you hear the one about the hitchhiking robot?

Meet ‘Hitchbot’ – The Hitchhiking Robot.

My friend Anthony recently hitchhiked his way from London to Hull with some success, but then again, he does (almost always) look fairly human.

And although Hitchbot was created with certain human features in mind, I am still concerned it will be mistaken for a trash can.
This tiny friend is supposed to travel  6000 miles- from Nova Scotia to Victoria, British Columbia, in Canada. And it has to do so, aided only by humans, their cars, and (not their most common feature) their kind hearts.
Mini friend was left by the side of the road and drivers need to stop, get off, carry it into their cars, plug it, and talk to it until the next stop. So in a way, it has to appeal to human kindness, but also to human imagination.
(I mean, what the hell is that thing by the road?)
So can Hitchbot trust humans? Will it manage to complete the trip?

At the moment it has found its way to Saskatchewan, so... not long to go (unless it gets mistaken with a trash can)
It has the size of a child to appeal to human nurturing instincts, it engages in conversation (more like small talk) but it also knows when to shut up, it smiles openly and occasionally winks. It is rather cute  (if you forget it looks like a trash can). You can follow its progress here:

Watch it here:

We wish Hitchbot luck with this adventure, after all... it's a big world out there.

And don’t forget: This blog is the result of human imagination… (wink, wink) :)

Thanks for visiting

I am a work in progress.

I am a little naked at the moment, but soon I will be wearing something splashy.

Yours,

this blog.
